Hong Kong’s economy, society, ethics & administrative systems from British colonial legacy are far more advanced & effective than any mainland Chinese city. By conceding Hong Kong, we’ve given unwarranted legitimacy to the CCP & turned a great empire (centred in the British Isles) into “a small, stupid & insignificant island,” (Chinese student studying in the UK, 2012). Let’s promulgate our values & strengths, take back Hong Kong & reinstitute British governorship. Gov could set up new trade bases through re-establishing our own presence & rule in Hong Kong & enforcing fair & reasonable trade relations, without offending the Chinese gov & making China ‘lose face,’ if that is our prerogative. Support this call for the take-back of Hong Kong & reestablishment of formal UK ruling presence in Hong Kong. This will create trade-ties, jobs, new expat colonies & the opportunity to do the same with Hainan Island, where a new international trade & finance centre would benefit all.
